Does anyone have a protocol or policy they would be willing to share with me one this? We have many outside imaging centers that do not have nurses in place, but EMT's are on site. I will appreciate your help tremendously!

If there are some rad techs out there looking to cross-train into Echo; but, have a tight schedule, look at the online program at www.academyofultrasound.com

Absolutely. According to the ARRT website, as long as you're already certified and registered in good standing prior to Jan 1, 2011, then you're exempt from CQ/2011. Whatever their chosen method of determining continued competency is going to be (oral, demonstration, whatever), we will be exempt.

I would bet that whatever they come up with, it will not be simply a matter of increasing CEU requirements ... CEU's do not demonstrate competency and that's one of the major issues they want to address.

So we'll see how it sorts itself out.

so, correct me if i'm wrong...

those of us registered before 2011 are grandfathered in, and don't have to retake the boards as long as we keep up on our ce's?

well... it all depends on your deffinition of intense....

nursing, yeah, you've got to know your biology and pharmacology. there's a whole lot more medications that you have to know. but every patient you touch isn't exposed to ionizing radiation.

it's really a toss up, they're both intense. they just tend to go intense in different directions, if you know what i mean
