The online BS degrees offered by Florida Hospital College are wonderful, aren't they?
However, they are ONLY for those people who are already working in Diagnostic Imaging - Sonographers, Radiographers, who need to finish their 4-year degree. They are not schools which train John Q Public how to scan patients.
I'll say it again. You cannot learn how to image patients ... Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Radiography, MR, etc without investing a significant amount of time. You can't learn it online - you must actually put your hands on a patient.

| I am applying to a few different schools that require "Intro to Radiology", but it isn't offered where I live unless I am in the program. Does anyone know of a school that offers this class online? |
To the best of my knowledge, this course is only offered to students who are enrolled in a Radiologic Technology Program, not available 'ala carte'. Unless I miss my guess, it is also not offered online by anyone.

Hello I am sorry that you are confused, this message was for another reply -for some reason the reply went to the incorrect response-letter.
How did that happen? I too, would be confused. Again, technology, went bonkers.
Good Luck

Hospital-based certificate programs (as long as they're accredited by the JCERT or other approved agency) provide the same eligibility to take the ARRT's national certification exam.
And that's the end goal .. ARRT certification. (not 'registration', which refers only to the annual fee paid every year to the ARRT to maintain certification).
You already have one 4-year degree. Feel free to get another degree, but it isn't necessary.
As far as hospitals not hiring based on where you went to school? HOGWASH. NO ONE cares where you went to school. Not your employer, not your co-workers. You will need to prove that you passed the ARRT's national certification exam ... so if I were you, I"d base my school search on this question - "What's the program's ARRT exam pass/fail rate"?

I'm sorry iraydee8 I assumed that this forum was to help people and give them information and not a "I'm better than you session." If that's what it is... I'm a female combat medic who served in Iraq for over a year and a half, who was awarded a combat medical badge for saving peoples lives while getting shot at, I own 2 homes, have no debt, and know how to use spell check. Now if you want to one up me it's your choice, but I'd rather try helping people than being ignorant.
For all of those whom gathered issued with me using the wrong terminology, I apologize. Although I realize that most of you have much more important things to ponder I still feel obligated to address those who don't.
